Project Overview

Duncan Place & Coronation Park
To create a new library and community hub and to open up the building to the park and high street. The new extension on the existing building will enables the library to integrate more into a wide variety of existing community groups.

DUNCAN PLACE UPDATES

  • Public consultation undertaken January 2022 for Duncan Place Community Hub
  • Pre planning consultation was a success with strong public support
  • Planning permission was approved in June 2022
  • WB Construction Ltd – a local Teesside based company – have been awarded the Contract
  • Works to start at the end of August 2022 and complete by July 2023

CORONATION PARK UPDATES

The results from the recent public pre planning consultation on the designs for the new Coronation Park.

Key points:

  • 84 people responded in total during the consultation
  • 71.3% thought that the designs allow for an improved facility
  • 72.4% of people scored the design proposals strongly in favour
  • A planning application seeking approval for the works has now been submitted
  • The process of seeking a Contractor will happen towards the back end of 2022

What will it deliver?

Improved community services within one community hub, a new Loftus Library, a new community hall, a revitalised Park, new events and market space with electric hook ups, a 17 bay car park, new access to Zetland Road, a projection wall, a new play area, and much more….
