Duncan Place
On the 1st of September 2022 local Teesside contractor, WB Construction Ltd, started the works to transform the current Youth and Community Centre into the Duncan Place facility which will be a central location in Loftus for new library and community hall buildings. £2.2M is to be invested into the project as part of the Loftus Regeneration Masterplan programme.
The initial stages of works included the creation of a works road through a part of Coronation Park to allow materials and vehicles access to the front of the existing building, and to start to build the library extension that will front onto the redeveloped park.
Works are targeted to complete in the Summer of 2023. There is also a new access point into the park off the Duncan Place lane whilst works are underway.
Coronation Park
On the 16th of September 2022 planning permission was given for the redevelopment of the park in order to widen its use and appeal to both local residents and visitors to the town. A stone boulevard linking a new 17 bay car park up to the Duncan Place facility will be installed; along with a large powered events space, new outdoor furniture, and a play equipment area. £1.16M is to be invested into the project as part of the Loftus Regeneration Masterplan programme.
A contractor bidding competition will happen at the end of 2022 with an anticipated works start targeted for March 2023. Works will last until the end of 2023. The new contractor will take over the works road installed initially for Duncan Place and will create the stone boulevard on top of this area.
